ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Currently have self built system about 5 years old that is constantly slow and running out of memory. Mobo GA-81915MD-GV Award Bios. Pentimum4 dual core Processor 3.00Ghz Socket 775
2GB DDR2 memory. GeForce 8500GT 512 MB graphics card Belkin 802.11g wireless internet Hard disk Seagate SATA 320GB and Western Digital SATA 150 GB Pioneer CDROM Display is either SyncMaster 920N or HannsG JG191D

My question is what gan I keep and what do I buy newto move up a few notches? I have my eye on a graphics cardin fact I have bought it...(GIGABYTE Radeon HD 4850 512MB )

if you have bought a 4850 which is about 100 dollars i would assume you are building a low end gaming computer

there isnt really anything that is worth keeping unless you want to keep the hardrives

if the 4850 is the graphics card and you want a gaming computer i would have to think the budget is somewhere around 500

Thanks bombat1994 for the reply I have never used an Athlon before I will look up info on it. I presume then that my dual core is no longer acceptable as a processor.
Games now can utilise the 4 cores?

As for prices you quote where can I get prices like that?
Are they in USA dollars?

As an ad on to my original I have currently a tower case with 650w power supply

the athlon in my posts is a tri core, but if you want the athlon 640 is about 30 dollars extra, it wont make much difference in gaming but in normal tasks like web browsing and stuff it will be faster.

u cant get the procesor in my origonal build in aus but the athlon 640 is around
