Usb external drive remove and then it needs to be formatted windows 7 only

Hello,
Everytime I safely eject my usb external HDD or restart my computer the drive needs to be formatted before I can use it. I'm using win7 ultimate the drive is partioned gpt, it works fine on xp machines and other win7 machines, can the registry be corrupted? Have run sfc /scannow am using EaseUSA to reformat all other win7 dianostics have been to no avail, have updated BIOS and chipset drivers. Please Help. Thx RLJ.

Run the Error-checking tool to fix the potential drive problems for you:
Right click a partition in “My Computer” to select “Properties”=> Open “Tools” tab and hit “Check Now”=> Mark “Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".
