Hey’
Im thinking about upgrading my HDD to a SSD, but im not quite sure if it worth it.
Also my motherboard only suppport 3.0GB/s, I don’t know if I should buy a new motherboard to get the 6.0GB/s and if it’s worth the money.
I would love to hear some opinions
Note: I do not OC anymore; I simply don’t have the time and can’t be bothered.

PC specs
Asus Rampage 2 extreme x58 crossfire&sli
Intel 960 3.2GHz (Zalman CNPS 10x on top of it)
Corsair dominator-gt 6GB ddr3 2000MHz
XFX 6970 2GB
850W psu (Think it’s a NorthQ)
And im using some random 1TB HD atm

3GB/s or 6GB/s makes no difference. The seek time is the point. Go for the SSD.

Its not like you have to pick one or the other.
In terms of price:
A 256gb SSD = 120gb SSD + 500gb/1tb HDD

Speed and space is better.

the answer is YES! even if you are using sata2. with sata2 you wont be taking full advantage of a new ssd but a ssd on sata2 is still a huge improvement over a regular hdd. watch the video below. it perfectly illustrates why you want a ssd.

Even with it just being SATA 3 your read and write time will significantly increase with an SSD
