Internet connection in the next room

i have a windows XP desktop, i need to put it in my dinning room but theirs no phone point, as i have a desk top im not sure if wireless works?

Shouldn't be a problem at that range -- is your other concern that you'll need to fit a wireless adapter to your desktop. You can choose USB type for ease of installation or PCI if you possess a screwdriver.
