Get a 5970 or w8 6xxx??

So.. i will get a new computer, so i dont know if i should get a 5970 or w8 to 6xxx

Depends on how long you're willing to wait.

For now, GTX460SLI + P55 would be a good choice.

mm dont know if its better i can use an old nvidia... i prefer ati and i dont wnat to buy 2 cards at the same time.. y want to buy 1 good first and get another when i need it

6XXX will not be that big of a jump over 5970s right now. They are rumored for August/September, though.

If you can wait, then wait. If you can't, a 5970 will still push top end graphics when the 6xxx cards are out.

The 7xxx cards are rumored to be the big jump (architectural change as well as die shrink)

5850- $390
5870- $550
5970- $900

2 HD5850s perform VERY close to a HD5970, and you save $120 for like a 7% decrease in performance.

It really comes out to how long you can wait, you might have to wait till mid next year for the replacement for the HD5970. The HD6870 at best performs ~20% better than the HD5870 (estimate).

What games do you want to play at what resolution?
2 HD5970s scale pretty bad FYI.

i want to play the new games like final fantasy 14, dirt 2, crysis, etc. all in 1920x1080/1920x1200 or maby eyefinity in the future all in the higher resolution and +60 fps(if posible)

If you are willing to wait then I would suggest that you consider the 384 core GF104 based GTX 475.Get one of them initially and in the future add another one in SLI.Two of them will blow away a 5970.

but i want an ati.. :S and get a sli or crossfire now isnt very future proof i prefer to have a good single card that cand doo any joob and then i get another one when the single card is old

Nothing is future-proof.If the GTX 475 comes out and performs better than the present 470 and provided it is priced right, then no present ATi solution will match them in SLI since NVIDIA SLI scales much better than ATi CrossFire.With the current drivers the GTX 400 cards scale over 90% in SLI.

The thing is when the GTX475 comes out (October/November), HD6000 isnt gonna be far much away, if you wait, you'll definitely have more choices.

For now, even a HD5850 would do 1080P just fine, though it definitely wont max out Crysis/Metro 2033 at max settings.
