Is there a program out there that will allow you to slow down a hard drive temporarily? I would like to severely limit the read speed of a disk for testing load times of applications. Any solutions?

Could you elaborate on what exactly you are trying to do?

I'm guessing your not simply trying to benchmark the HDD - or are you?

Run an antivirus scan and malware scan on the targeted HDD at the same time you want to run the test. That is a way, but will load down your CPU quite a bit as well.

You can also copy a large amount of large files while running the test as well.

Select PIO mode instead of DMA mode.

In the absence of OP input I think popatim might be the closest.....lol - didn't think of that one :)

OP: nice one ;)  Try the suggestions above....and good luck!
