I am currently deciding between a 28 inch LCD TV and 28 inch LCD Monitor. Both are made by sister companies and have a resolution of 1920x1200. Is there any drawback to using a TV as a monitor? Are they typically brighter, not good for text or bad for the eyes? Thanks for any advice :)

Here are the links for the products:

I'm wondering about this too.

I think the standout differences I can identify are port selection (lots of cable friendly stuff vs. lots of PC speaker audio jacks and a VGA port you should never use), better built in speakers are likely on the TV, possible built in tuner on the TV (? can't tell), better tilt options on the monitor.

There have been big debates about TV vs. monitor resolution, some people saying TVs are blurry with detail and monitors are crisper, other people denying the same, insisting that pixels are pixels. I'm not sure which camp is right, maybe someone can post some evidence from an authoritative source for one side or the other, like a review?

One thing that comes to mind is the response time. Some TV's are 8ms and a good monitor is 2ms. I'd buy a monitor if that is its' purpose but if you are trying to save money getting both in one, I can't see a really big downside.
