Hey guys,

I have two older Western Digital hard-disks and someone told me that it is better to have up-to-date firmware in order to maximize drives performance.
My drives:
1. WD6400AAKS-65A7B0 (640GB) - firmware: 01.03B01
2. WD5000AAKS-00V1A0 (500GB) - firmware: 05.01D05

How can I update the firmware of those hdds?

Thanks in advance :)

Go to WD's web site and see what downloads are available for your models.

FWIW, the WD6400AAKS-65A7B0 appears to be a HP/Compaq OEM drive while the WD5000AAKS-00V1A0 appears to be a retail version.

Maybe HP's web site has something.

Nope, nothing on HP's site.
