Ok I have this motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131735

and this RAM

this is my Power supply unit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182188&Tpk=rosewill%20bronze%201000w

this is my case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811517006&Tpk=azza%20solano%201000r

I was setting up my first gaming PC and putting all the parts together, I screwed in the motherboard to the Chassis and hooked up all the motherboard base cords to the motherboard.

I had my GPU and other stuff in their which was also hooked up except for DVD drive and Sata hard drive except it had the data transfer cord attached.
I tried putting in the RAM but it wouldn't go all the way in the side with the snap holder it wouldn't let them go all the way in I'm afraid of putting force and damaging the mobo and RAM for nothing if the it turns out to be incompatible. I don't see it listed in the list of 1600mhz detect RAM compatible yet I see the 8gb version in the list.

It seems like you are trying to put RAM other way round. If you look at the motherboard's RAM slot and your RAM then you can see a notch on both.

You have to align those notch on motherboard's slot and RAM. They are just a mm away from Center of RAM towards one side.

edit: The RAM is fully compatible with board (at-least from physical dimensions)
edit 2: also try searching google/youtube if my reply is confusing. You will definitely find some video of how-to do this :)

Are you talking about the stationary clip which is the flatter looking notch/snap holder I tried flipping it but it wouldn't budge. which is on the opposite side of the trouble I'm having pushing the RAM into.

Can you take pictures of your slot and RAM ? then I can easily identify and tell you that about which notch I talking as I might not be able to tell clearly in description.

OR just look at this video in which the person is installing DDR3 in Asus Mobo. Youtube Video showing DDR3 Installation in Asus Mobo.

I hope this will help.
