Motherboard Surround sound?

I'm going to be using the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro and from the interent I've heard that although it has 6 audio channels, it does not produce surround sound.

so does it produce surround sound when
1.)Listening to music
2.)Watching movies
3.)Playing online games(BF:BC2 or something like that)
4.)Does it even produce surround sound?

It depends on how you connect the sound; the onboard sound is 7.1. Review pages 2-45~2-47 and page 4-16 5.1 & 7.1 audio. In addition you have the digital option of you S/PDIF output but that requires a Receiver.

Q - What Speakers or Audio Equipment are you using?

I am planning on connecting it to a crappy speaker(Stereo I think) then either a Grado SR60, or Logitech G35 to the USB port( I will not be using the speaker at all, the sound is so horrible from it)

The Grado SR60 = 2 Ch Stereo {green MOBO I/O or use the HD Audio Front Panel to the Case}, the Logitech G35 has it's own sound processor i.e. doesn't use the onboard sound -> http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/internet-headsets-phones/devices/5095
