If OEM specs say 45w CPU then....

Does that mean the motherboard can only handle a 45w cpu, or the PSU can only handle 45w cpu?

For example, I have an Emachines ET1331G-03w but i replaced the PSU with a Cooler Master 650 w and shoved a EVGA GTX 570 SC in there. But the Athlon II x2 235e is a super bottleneck.

If possible, id like to put this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...103809&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-19-103-809-_-Product in there only if it wont destroy my board.

If all else fails Ill just have to get a new case, and then mobo and then CPU. Was hoping just a CPU would hold me over for now.

I stand corrected. The DDR2 in an AM3 board threw me off... In the thread below there is one guy talking about using a Phenom X2 555 @ 80w... Another talking about the motherboard supporting CPUs up to 90w... Another talking about using a Phenom X4 (maybe a 95w model)... If that is the case you may have a pretty good selection of 95w CPUs to choose from.

Your curent CPU is an AM2+ @ 45w. I believe your AM2+ motherobard will accept processors up to 65w, but do not believe you can use an AM3 CPU. This leaves you pretty limited. You may try to find an 8450e or 9350e, but temper your expectations...

No its AM3, Ive already tried an sempron 130 45w cpu before installing it into a budget build for a friend that i had ordered from newegg.

Ive heard of some putting 65w cpu in the board, but then some saying if you upgrade the PSU you can upgrade the cpu to what ever is supported by the PSU
