Anyone knows what is the difference between the 2 following models:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

and

Someone told me to buy the first one but it is back order on www.bestdirect.ca . I don't want to wait forever for RAM for my new system (P8Z68-V LE + i5 2500k) so I was thinking about changing to the second one...

Is there an actual difference? There must be because I don't see the point of having two different models of the same ram if they are the same.

Marketing.

They have different heat spreaders which might appeal to different customers.

From a performance point of view, they are identical.

If you go to the G.skil web site
and access their ram selection configurator.
Enter your motherboard, and you will get a list of compatible ram kits.
While today's motherboards are more tolerant of different ram, it makes sense to buy ram that is known to work and is supported.
