I'm working on my first build with a $1500 budget, and I've got a really nice set of components that goes a bit over:

CPU - i7 950 - $300
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R - $210
Memory - Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 200 - $175
GPU - GTX 480 - $500
HDD WD Cavalier Black 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache - $70
Optical Drive - Cheap SATA - $20
Case - Antec Nine Hundred Two Black Steel ATX Mid Tower - $120
PSU - Corsair CMPSU 750-TX 750V - $110
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium - $100

If I can get these components cheaper anywhere else (these are all Newegg prices), tell me. Otherwise, help me reduce this by $100. Thanks!

Is this a gaming build?

If so, then just drop it down to an i5-750/760 and Asus p7p55D-E Pro you'll save well over $100 btwn CPU and mobo.

You should however make the switch to the XFX PSU, HAF 922, g skill Pi, and a samsung spinpoint f3, which is $5 more for a 1Tb drive.
