I have an XP Pro Sp2 machine that will not install software that all my other
XP Pro Sp2 boxes have installed. The software vendor is telling me that with
XP Pro service pack 2, the MDAC components should have updated to version 2.8
RTM. When I run Microsoft's Component Checker 2.0, it shows that several
files are mismatched from MDAC 2.8 RTM. Upon further inspection, the version
numbers expected are newer than the version numbers found on this machine.
Here are some examples of the 20 or so mismatches:
MSORCL32.DLL; expected v2.575.1022.0; found v2.575.1117.0
ODBC32.DLL; expected v3.525.1022.0; found v3.525.1117.0
MSDAURL.DLL; expected v9.2.1022.0; found v9.2.1117.0
I tried to run MDAC_TYP.exe and ENU_Q832483_MDAC_x86.exe. I am graced with
an error message saying that these components were already part of my Windows
software.
Does anyone know more about MDAC than my software vendor or the MS KB?
