What is a pen drive??

I bought a new hard drive, installed it, and got an error saying there is no windows to boot from. I figure out what to do, and create a backup on my usb. I tried booting from my usb and now it says there is no pen drive or something like that. I've looked for over 4 hours now, downloading iso images, trying different programs, but i can't figure it out. i'm so frustrated -.-!!!

And if it matters, its an hp laptop, windows 7.

during boot up, press f11 and then use the system recovery option to restore your laptop to its out of the box state.

Pen drive is another name for a usb drive. Don't know why they are called drives there are no moving parts.
