24" 1920x1200 Monitor
About to buy 55" Samsung LCD (LN55C650)

there have been some sales on Newegg on 4870's

Is it worth picking up another 4870 (3 way crossfire) for another 90 bucks?

Your board will support it fine, but will your PSU? It will probably only add another 30% onto your FPS so dont expect huge gains from it but at that price its kinda hard to say no.
