I'm planning a new build.
Single GTX580 (adding a second later)
2 1.5TB WD 7200RPM drives (possibly adding 2 more later)
1 crucial SSD
I looked through the forums to see what kind of PSU I should get, the guide leads me to think I would need a 850Watt. However the guide doesn't have info for the GTX580 yet. My question is would I be better off with a 850 or something 1K+? Also I live in an old house and using a 1500Watt space heater throws my breaker, will I even be able to use PSU's this hungry?
If your system is powering down on a daily basis due to tripped breakers, I would spend an extra $100 for a ups battery back up device. Newegg has several models. For the power supply, they have a seasonic 850HT for $119.99 plus shipping that should be more than adequate.
As for your home setup with tripping breakers, I recommend having your computer on a dedicated one if you are having issues. The only issue is that you will have to play around with switching breakers on and off to see which are connected to which power outlets. Once you find this out though, you could even set up your electrical equipment so that is is spread across the breakers.
