Update BIOS

My computer tech reset the bios on my X58A-UD3R motherboard to default.

How important is it to brought up to date?

  1. Normally, you only want to update the bios if it fixes a known current issue you are having. Resetting the bios to default does not downgrade your bios, it only changes the settings back to default.

The only time you should ever really update your BIOS is:

    A) If there is a major issue, with the update being a known solution
    B) If a major feature is implemented in the newer version
    C) Well, there really isn't a C.

Messing with your BIOS can be very tricky, even if you get the update straight from the manufacturer's website. To me, changing the BIOS is a last option kind of thing.
