  1. Metro 2033 isn't very well optimized,your FPS looks fine to me.If you want more,then lower AA/AF
  2. no.i meant that, before i bought the game i want to know whether the gtx 280 will play it at that fps coz if it wont then i won't buy the game and save my money for something else.
  3. also will it run better on win 7
  4. though without ADOF and Tess it can be pretty ugly.

but yeah, in XP running dx9 you should get playable rates. its not going to look anywhere near as good as it could though.
  5. if you have a 5850 you can just force vSync through CCC. go to 3d>settings>all.
  6. then you probably cant. may be a gimped feature. ive never worried about vsync unless there is significant tearing (which i rarely encounter)

anyways, kinda derailing the thread here.

    @OP, you should be fine.
  7. yeah ive played it, no vsync and i never had tearing issues. that's with everything maxed ans 2xaa at 1080p. (had to overclock my GPU to 1000 to get playable rates though, and it still drops below 30)

Sorry,i thought you already have it.
Yes it can play it fine, however there are better options in the same price range.
And Windows 7 won't make a difference on the game, except for that you can enable DX10.
  9. is depth of field a dx 11 feature

is depth of field applicable on dx 10?
  11. but will a graphic card of dx10 will be able to activate it?
  12. DOF and Tesselation are only available for DX11,but i have to disable them both to get a smooth gamely. With DX11 and its features enabled i got about 20-30 FPS(with HD 5970),whereas with DX11 disabled,i got 40-50
  13. I run Metro 2033 with crossfire 5850s, 1920x1080, DX11, Tesslation on, DoF on, AAA, Very High, and PhysX on (I have a PhysX card) and generally I get 50-70fps except in rooms with a ton of lighting effects ("sun shafts") it can drop to about 35.

Anyway, a GTX280 should be able to run the game with the OP's settings. Even at High setting the game still looks nice.
  14. I always love how folks answer questions like this without even asking the OP's resolution. LOL

Regardless, the GTX 280 should play Metro 2033 fine as long as you're using DX9 mode like you suggested. Though the game is really meant to be viewed in DX10/11. Can be fairly amazing image quality that way. :) You could possibly play it in DX10, with lowered settings depending on your resolution.

    It's a beast of a game. With DX11 @ 1920x1080 my GTX470 averages about 30FPS.
  15. Yeah you are right,i missed the resolution.
Well with those settings and the FPS that you are considering,i think it can be achieved on a resolution like 1680x1050.
  16. he can't use dx10 since he has windows XP.

and dip, i used 2xAA in CCC. better framerate.
