Hi people i currently have an alienware aurora desktop with i7 920 and im having really bad problems with ram settings my ram is Corsair XMS3 1600mhz ram DHX 3x2G sticks but i cannot get it to run at 1600 mhz in triple channel the computer auto configs my timings to be 7-7-7-20 but the timings are meant to be 9-9-9-24 doesnt matter what i do it will not run at 1600 mhz iv tried upping bclk and changing mem ratio (FSB) but it will not boot the ram is rated at 1600mhz with 1.80v the ram came from my previous build ASUS P6X58D-E working perfect in triple channel at 1600mhz but for some reason my alienware doesnt like it any help is welcome cheers Daz you can also PM me at dazdonovan1987@o2.co.uk

Mm, do you really need to change the timings just for the sake of it? You do understand that it will have absolutely NO practical performance impact WHAT SO EVER, right?
Many people just read too much into things. RAM only needs to be plenty and stable. That's all there is to it. You can play Crysys 2 fluently on Enthusiast settings with 667 MHz DDR2 RAM. Believe me - I've done it.

Well the ram is running at bclk 133 stock so its 133 X 8 ratio and running at 1066 mhz i would like it to run what its meant to mate at 1600mhz but iv tryed everything with no luck i read some where that the alienware boards like to run memory at 1.5v so i dont no if this is the problem as my ram is rated at 1.80v i have the latest BIOS A11 and the X58 board cheers

Myeah - pre-build systems can be a funny thing. That's why I build by own.
My RAM expertise won't do here, I'm a fraid - let's hope someone more tech-savvy comes by.
While it would be better if it operated at the specified speeds, it won't kill you if you let the RAM run as it is. ;)

The main reason i want it to run at 1600mhz is i want to OC to about 3.4Gb and slightly OC the ram to 1624 but if i OC cpu to 3.4 the ram runs at bclk 160 X 6 which is 960 mhz and i cannot up the FSB because it crashes when booting up
