I would love to free up some money from this build if possible in any areas. I would consider also doing a different board with a 5870.

Please advise!!!!

Edited: forgot the mobo on amd build

What mobo were you looking at for AMD? In my opinion the GTX 460 SLI makes little sense, especially for AMD.

sorry sp, forgot to post it. The mobo was already included in original price prosted.

Its added now.

There's not a lot of good reason to be spending that much on an AMD setup for SLI, especially when it doesn't really offer anything compelling and forces you to drop Sata/USB 3.

Go with AMD and AMD graphics. (ull save money) unless you really want 460 sli

Ok then next question, what amd card and board? 5870 I'm assuming considering my budget. I've just heard soooo many times that a 470 is better, its cheaper, and comes with a game.

Halpp!! Ill do anything to /make this build perfect.

Thanks in advance

470 is only a bit slower, cheaper, and comes with a game :)  Nvidia cards work fine on AMD mobos, but SLI does not.

I'm buying bfbc2 so I'm really set on the x6 since tis basically the same price as the 955

If I use what I have now with combos and just use your 5870 then I won't go over budget leaving me 140 to 180 to budget a mobo

Great, Im happy i could help you out!!!

Yes the x6 1055t/1090t would be great for bfbc2 and GTA iv and many many upcoming games. 5870 beats a gtx 470 any day, and with less heat and less noise you can overclock further!

Go with this motherboard, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

it has USB 3.0, SATA III, the newest and greatest and best AMD north bridge, crossfireX support and sooo many other features and from a great brand!

what if i drop the 5870 and use a gtx470 while i wait for the 6xxx series.

Honestly, too many reviews that say the the 470 is on par for cheaper. Including that commonly linked gpu performance graph.

Saves me about 60 bucks and a free game keeping me under budget instead of about 30 over.

If this is a bonehead mistake let me know

I think it is. If atall a 6000 series comes out, it wont have any earth shattering features OVER the 5000 series(same DX etall). Also, a 6870 is probably going to be as good as 5870X2(if 6000 series really rocked). And the prices will go down on the 5000 series like anything. Hell, the 4850 is the best card with money vs performance ratio now. I think you should get the 5870. The only places where the 470 will beat 5870 is when tessellation and TWIMTBP nividia titles. Regardless of this, the 5870 is a great great card.

If this rig is for gaming, which you said it is, you don't want to go for any hex cores right now. Stick with a 955 for amd, it performs much better than the 1055t.

I don't see why you would put so much money down for a 470 now just to wait for the 6xxx series to come out. Go with the 5870, (you could always crossfire later) a 955BE, and a good mobo.

Also, why two different ram choices? Just stick with a ram set with high speed and low timings. (1600 mhz and cas 7 usually)
