Graphics card ratings confusing

How do you tell which graphics card is better? Integrated? Discrete? Want to be able to do gaming, SEcond life, Google Earth Ancient Rome & am comparing 2 laptops:

GE requires: How do you tell which is the better graphics card. I keep looking at specs that say things like:
* ATI Radeon 9200 and above
* OR NVIDIA GeForce
2, GeForce 4



* ATI: 4850, 4870
* OR NVIDIA: 9800
or better - ... but what is better.??

the 5650 is better, though how much are you looking to spend, you may be able to get a good laptop off of newegg a bit cheaper
