SSD not recognized in BIOS

My OCZ Agility 2 SSD is no longer recognized. I've tested it with multiple systems, and the issue is definitely the SSD. It worked perfectly for about a year, running Ubuntu on one partition and Windows on another, but now when connected the BIOS will hang in AHCI for about thirty seconds before failing to recognize the drive. The only solutions I've found have required the SSD to be connected to something. Is there anything I can do, or should I just look for a way to salvage the data?

I would try a secure erase and firmware update to see if you can salvage the drive, of course after taking any important data off of it, which you should already have backed up anyway.

I haven't been able to erase it because nothing will recognize it; is there a way to do so that doesn't require this?

I would try using the free Hiren's Boot CD as either a CD or USB image to boot your computer and try some of the recovery tools that are included: http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/
