Required to change motherboard

hello, i have a gateway dx4860, with a gateway mobo. i find i need 1 more pci slot at a minimum. the computer is still under warranty, is there any "somewhat safe" option to achieve this goal that would not require a "retail version" of Win7 be purchased as part of the upgrade, mine came with "oem" version

No. A non gateway board won't boot up with your current windows operating system. It would be cheaper to retire your pci device and use an alternative.
