APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: next week

BUDGET RANGE: around $2100

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Mostly gaming, secondly a media pc.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: monitor, keyboard, mouse, stereo

PREFERRED WEBSITE FOR PARTS: Newegg

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA

PARTS PREFERENCES:
Amd, Ati

OVERCLOCKING: Cpu only

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: crossfire in the future

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080

This is what I've come up with.

CASE: Antec 1200 $159.99

MOTHERBOARD: Asus Crosshair IV Formula $229.99

CPU: Amd Phenom II x4 965 $164.99

RAM: x2 G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1600 4gb (2x2gb) $183.98

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 5970 $714.99

PSU: COOLER MASTER 1200w ATX $269.99
I went with a 1200W PSU because in the future I plan on dropping in another 5970

SSD: OCZ Agility 2 60g $158.00

HARD DRIVE: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM $87.99

DISC DRIVE: LG 10x Blu-Ray Burner $109.99

Total: $2079.91

And there it is! I'm pretty sure all of this stuff is compatible, but not 100%, so that's why I'm asking for you guys to check it out. Please let me know if you can see any obvious tweeks, better deals, parts I put down that aren't quite up to snuff etc.

Thanks in advance!

bad psu bad hdd abd u dont need 8gb of ram...

for the psu get 850w..thats enought for 5970 crossfire

hhd the samsung spinpoint f3 its faster and cheaper

ram just get 4gb thats enought... games just use a maximum of 3gb

and i saw the antec 1200 and i dont like the build quality of it... i would recomend the nzxt phantom... it is very good and i like it

Thanks for the replies!

Alright I got rid of the western digital and added 1 Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

Also took took obsidian's PSU

Juanchioo I looked on Newegg for the NZXT Phantom but was unable to find it, could you throw me a link? Also there are like 1500 reviews of the Antec 1200 with nearly all giving 5 stars, what is wrong with the build quality?

For the ram instead of going 8 gigs I'm thinking of 4 gigs of faster ram. The crosshair IV formula's max supported ram is ddr3 2000 but in the specifications it says overclocked only, I'm not sure what that means.

Will this ram work with the motherboard? G.Skill Flare 4gb

With these changes my total is now $1989.91, shaved off nearly 100$ with an increase to performance. Please keep the advice coming!

psu i recomend corsair hx850w or xfx 850w blakc edition

ur right its out of stock :S .... i saw it and it has in the metal like little balls kind of sand paper, i didnt like it

the thing u read on the motherboard its that if can support 2000mhz of ram if u overclock it... get g.skill ripjaws 1600mhz ddr3 cl7

also that motherboard is overkill... get the one i told..

the abs is just as good as the hx850 xfx 850 and most of the top 10 psu's in the 150-200 range ,850 is minimum spec for 2x 5970's 1kw is the safe margin when you start cranking the clocks

you can also drop to the amd 955 it clocks just as well as the 965 but a bit cheaper and can be put to 965 speeds in 2 minutes

^ bulldozer is coming Bulldozer with not work with AM3 100% Postive with proof! :)  and ATi video cards work better with AMD anyways.. AMD ftw!

There will always be a new technology coming out. I will admit with the recent price drops in the GTX 400 series and the price drops in 1366 socket cpus...creating a build right now is pretty tempting (I plan on finishing my build at the end of this month if the 6000 series ever comes out = ) )
