If your monitor is 1080p then you should be playing games at your native resolution. The GTX 460 would be a better choice for that and also overclocks better as well.

I think you meant the GTX 460 and no, it's nowhere near as good as the HD5870.

You will get a better bang for your buck going with the GTX 460. With a decent overclock it can even perform with the 5850 in some cases. 2 x GTX 460's in SLI can even outperform the GTX 480 and HD5870.

Yeah, it's certainly a better card for the money but performance wise it can't compare with the HD5870 except perhaps in games the favor Nvidia hardware to an extreme degree.

I agree, performance wise their is really nothing that can compare with the HD5870 right now except for the GTX 480 and it's heat and power requirements make it unattractive. But looking at sadain's PSU and the rest of his build, it makes the HD5870 an unrealistic option (unless they're willing to upgrade the PSU as well). That's why I suggested the GTX 460. :)

Not quite, an OCed HD5850 is on par and a much better deal.

A 5770 at HD resolutions is definately not an option.

If money is the restricting factor then a 1gb 460 would be the ideal purchase. OC'd they can perform like a 5850 which is the minimum power I would want for gaming at that resolution
