would I be able to plug my PS3 into the digital optical out on my mobo and get sound from computer so I can use my headphones? The reason why I ask is I just bought a new monitor but it does not have any speakers or audio out.
So basically what I want to do is PS3 optical out to PC optical out (heard somewhere that it can act as an "IN" also). If I have this wrong please inform me of a way to get sound from my PS3 to my headphones, while using my computer monitor.

Unless you explicitly have an optical audio in port, no. Some sound cards have an optical audio-in port, but I've never seen one on a motherboard.
