Inspiron 5000E w/dim screen

I just was given this laptop to try and fix. The screen is very dim on
boot-up. I assume that the inverter is bad. My question is how hard is it to
install a new one? Does anyone have any tips, tricks or suggestions to do
this? I have some laptop repair experience, but haven't worked on this
model. Any help appreciated. Any chance it could be just a loose cable or
connector?
