I apologise if there is a similar thread somewhere, I checked briefly but after hours of hitting my head against a wall, I'm at a loss for time and am hoping by the time I'm back someone might offer some advice on the matter.
Namely, I came over to a friends to reinstall Windows 7 on a pair of WD 500gb raided HDDs. The problems started straight off the bat when it wouldn't simply recognize the windows disk, after which I went into bios to change boot priority. Having done that, putting cdrom before HDD, it instantly froze out on me forcing me to restart it with the button from the bios screen.
Having done that, I had to reset CMOS by removing the battery cause it wouldn't enter POST at all. Anyway, it stopped recognizing the existing Windows 7 install. I managed to work around that and entered the windows install, after which it proceeded not to recognize any hard drives.
In the end, I managed to install ubuntu on it, hoping I could format one HDD at a time, but the problem is that while Ubuntu itself recognizes it, as well as fdisk, gparted does not.
I suppose this isn't the way one formats raided drives in the first place, but I'm in a bit of a pickle atm so any help would be appreciated.
