Cant find my optical drive on my computer

Can you be more specific on your issue? Windows can't find/doesn't recognize it or you can't physically can't find it??

computer won't recognize it. Does not show up in my computer.

I would verify the cable is connected / secured to the device & motherboard. If it has come loose, the PC won't recognize it. This can hold true if the cable is bad, as well. I would look at those two areas first before looking to replace the drive.

If it's a IDE device then check the jumper setting as well.

Have your tried formatting / fresh install of Windows??
