I made a porthole style window in the top of a Cooler Master HAF 912 to view this DVD drive with a window. Steps involved in making DVD window, http://www.casemodblog.com/?p=7881

This oughta be fun ...just some minor alterations to put a window in the top of the HAF 912. I'll let the photos explain the rest!

tape off the top of the chassis, before cutting another window

I cut a clear acrylic sheet for the top of the I/O cover

It's going to be a Porthole Window... I think it's going to look really cool with the drive installed

I added a couple more socket head screws and a layer of this carbon fiber vinyl film underneath the acrylic,

You're right, that does look really cool. I especially like the lighting in the drive itself.

Thank you user 18. I did another in a Lian Li PC-7 as well... much cleaner looking.. I applied brushed chrome vinyl film over the top DVD spindle, to match the aluminum. The angled piece behind the drive, (closing up the gap) is the 5.25 bay cover. I'm debating about making something else, probably from aluminum sheet bent 90 degrees.

Yeah, that does look really cool!

I would find more reasons to use a CD/DVD if I had something like that!

Very well done on the Lian Li case - looks very clean, and as if it were a part of the original chassis.
