My daughters laptop is dead.
She had a Dell Vostro 1000 Athlon64 x 2 TK-55 1.8ghz/1 gb pc2-4200/60gb 5400rpm Sata II/Vista Basic 32-bit
HD/Ati 1150 Express 256mb/
I found a HP 61-511WM AMD Sempron M100 2.0ghz/3gb ? DDR2/ 250gb HD/ATI HD4200/Win7 Premium 64-bit
I can get it for $175 USD w/o OS installed or charger/2 hr battery
Obviously it is a better OS but hardware wise will she notice a performance drop or improvement or the same.
I am more of an Intel guy so unfamiliar with AMD notebook chips.
Any help or opinions is appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Solution
I think for her needs and as a replacement of what she was using it will be ok. I am sure you dont want to spend much money and she will grow out of it soon enough.
Yes I realize that after googling.
I checked PCMark scores and it is still reasonable.
My daughter is 9 years old so I think it is still enough power for her.
Plus with 64bit Win7 os,3gb ram and 250gb hd compared to her old laptops Vista basic 32bit/1gb ram/60gb hard drive I think it is a decent upgrade.
I got confused because a few Semprons are dual core.
This one isnt.:(

No not yet LOL :D
Light gaming mostly Flash games and MMO like Wizard 101 and Free Realms.
Microsoft Word,Publisher and Paint programs.
I use it as a secondary machine when repairing mine (googling, downloading drivers etc) and for dvd ripping/burning when she is in school.

^1 True.
