I am trying to help my father make a decision. He is on a fixed income, and as such, has limited amounts of the green stuff to be throwing around.
He wants to upgrade his Athlon 64 6000+ system to a quad core system.
Based on the research that he, and myself have done, we came to the conclusion that we don't know enough about what is going on to make the best/right choice. So I come to you to ask your opinions.
We started with an 955 and a mobo. Being the dutiful son that I am, I said HEY! why don't you see if you can afford to move to an 1100t, since that is the top of the line 6 core AMD proc available today, and Bulldozer (Zambezi) is just around the corner.
This brought us to this discussion we are having now.
What we are trying to figure out, is whether or not we (my father) are going to be able to upgrade to Zambezi down the line. If the above mobo can do that, then we can go for the cut rate CPU for now, because after all, it is going to be at least 50% faster than what he has right?
We would be grateful for any insight that you all could bestow.
