Long time reader, first time writer. The title is clear.
I am planning to build a new rig which will be used for gaming as well as for multimedia applications like Adobe photoshop cs4 etc. :ange:

I am totally confused whether to buy phenom ii x4 965 (3.4ghz 125w) or to buy phenom ii x4 955(3.2ghz 125w) ?????? :heink:
There is not much price difference between these two though. But i was , i don't know ,i am confused. :??:

It is a gr8 confusion for me. I am not an overclocking person at all :non:  ,and i am also not planning to overclock the cpu to 3.6 or 3.7 or 4ghz . but i want performance , in gaming & other applications. But if u tell me how to then i can do little overclocking to , but don't want pc to go booommm or any other defect in it ppl :(  . It will be my 1st build. :bounce:

Main purpose is Gaming, and then comes other applications. My current proposed setup is :

asus M4a88td-v evo
ati radeon hd 5850
haf 922
GSKILL Ripjaws Series 2x2GB DDR3 1600MHz F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
samsung p2350/Px2370
Corsair 550VX

What do u think about this confg frnds ?
Don't want x6 , and 6870 ,budget is tight & cause i will be using this 4 @ least 4 years, then i will jump higher and make a new build with ddr4 and amd 6990. But till then i want something.

So what u all say ppl? Will 965 BE be worth buying 4 gaming & other applications like multimedia? Or should i go to 955 BE ?

And plz be serious and stick to the topic that i want to know :)

Yes if you're not overclocking get the 965, it will provide you with more performance and for such a small price increase it's worth it. You could save some money on the RAM and get 1333mhz though.

First of all get a HD 6850, they're cheaper.
The first monitor has only 1year warranty, the second one, LED backlit has 3 years but it's very expensive (you can get a cheaper one and a HD 6870)

This 650W Corsair has the same price right now

It's able able to run two video cards in crossfire if you get a CF mobo

Thanks Phoenixlight. I really appreciate ur reply. :) . Will it be worth it? I mean what will be the diff in performance if i use 1333mhz instead of 16000mhz .

Thnx mosox, but the problem is here In Bangalore there are only two best after sale service provider (i) Samsung & (ii) LG. SO i decided samsung 23".
And the power supply, I m not total guru about PSU, but I don't want the PSU sucking lot of electricity, if it does than I will be in trouble for sure as the bill will be higher. Are u saying that 550vx will consume less power then 600tx? And why u suggested 600vx friend? IS 550vx not good ?

There's no real difference in performance between 1333mhz RAM and 1600mhz RAM in real world applications (only in synthetics) and yes the phenom II x4 965 is worth it.

thnx again mosox. THe only prob with online shopping is its my 1st time and I want the parts as fast as possible. And it is hard here to find true reviews about a such good site doing all work on or before time like Newegg or Tigerdirect. Thought to search here in locals and get those as soon as possible.
But thnx again though
