Solution for power on problem in compaq presario v2000 laptop

compaq pressario laptop v2000 is facing power switching problem . i have checked adaptor and related hardware

adaptor output is ok .on first press of power switch power on indicator blinks for a moment but goes off after blink

suggest me the remedy of mother board . how to proceed step wise to diagnose the problem
