i have a microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard 1.1 model 1014, all was well, then i moved to another house and didnt take my batteries out cause i didnt think i needed to, anyway now the keyboard is all messed up, im using a old plug in one now, the problem is some keys do nothing, some are backwards with numbers, like say the number 8 button gives me a u, the u gives me number 8, there are several like that, i turned numberlock on and off and that doesnt change, i would still get the u from number 8 but then i get no 8 from u, im not sure what happend during the move, i dont think its broke yet i think something just got messed up, any ideas??

Try uninstalling the keyboard in device manager and letting it re install itself after a reboot.

Also check your regional settings to make sure they are set to the correct region.

Have you tried new batteries?

Is there a reset button anywhere on the keyboard, probably need to poke something like a paperclip in it?

Try taking out the batteries an leaving for a few days.

Uninstall everything to do with the keyboard in device manager and programs.

Check in the manual for regional settings or other settings you could have accidently activated.

Also when it is plugged into your machine find the installed keyboard in device manager and check settings.

Thats all I can think of. :pfff:

i looked around for a reset, nothing yet, i did find in a help area something about a fn key, says if you hold that down it will do what mine is doing, some letters mimic the number pad, but i dont see a fn key, there is an f lock but thats different i think, and none seem to be stuck, on the outside anyway...its weird

The function (FN) key is normally on the bottom row.

It can be BLUE or a least a different colour, big F little n and if you look around the keyboard you should see some keys also have the same coloured numbers and symbols on them also.

Sounds like you have turned the NumLk on, see if you can find it and press Fn and NumLk together, it should turn it off.

My NumLk key is F11.

Think the Fn keys a laptop thing, it must be the f lock has been turned on.

Have a look at these to see if a solution works for you.

actually i did see 2 of those 3 already, thanks, its not the flock either, i ended up calling microsfot support and they had me do the mskey.exe thing while onthe phone, after a few minutes of messing around he pretty much said it sounds like mine is broke inside somewhere:( ...but here is the good news and a big thumbs up to them, without having a reciept or any idea when i got it, and telling them i moved and it was my fault, they are sending me another one for free, i even asked if it will link up with my reciever and he said they are sending me a whole new package, mouse, reciever, and keyboard, so that was pretty cool and i big suprise to me, claims its on the way so we will see.....thanks to all that helped, still seems wierd to me, like it was in a special program mode, like for gaming, banking, shorthand, some business, something wacky like that...
