They are the same price for the 1gb 465's and the 1gb 460's

what is the better card is the difference between them

GTX 460 is better, its a different design than the GTX 465 that has slightly less stream processors but more texture units on the back end, and higher clock speeds to make up for the lost SPs so in the end it performs better and uses less power.

^ second that, and I'm pretty sure the feeling around here is unanimous unless we include unlocking into the discussion.

Reply to skolpo

from the reviews i read .. 460>465

Reply to pletopia

Thats a hell of an OC for only like $20 more than stock so that looks like a pretty good deal.

Reply to hunter315

It's hard to go wrong with any GTX 460s. On TG, any of their 460s are quality picks. I'd personally go for the cheapest 1GB. Shame that they got rid of Bing cashback on TG...

I forgot to add i get 25% of all cards at tigerdirect what is my best choice i have 250$ cash money

Reply to cia24

Buy two GTX 460s with your 25% off, give me one and I'll pay you the difference from $250 =)

But yes, even with a discount, I'd still go for the GTX460.

gtx 460 with far cry will be better then radeons right? and also this version of the 460 seems to get the best out of all the gtx 460's

Reply to cia24

The best GTX 460s are the MSI Cyclone and ASUS DirectCU but neither are available on tigerdirect. For the cards on that site I would go for one of the EVGA cards. They are a better brand than Galaxy and then you can possibly take advantage of their step up program to trade the card in for a GTX 475 when they are released.
Also you should never pay extra for a factory OC. Overclocking a video card is very easy and you will be able to achieve much better results on your own so paying some else to do a worse job is just a waste of money.

Go with EVGA if you can not get the MSI or Asus. My EVGA GTX460 EE shipped today. EVGA precision and they offer this Overclock Scanner as a 4xx series exclusive.

This is the one you want. Lifetime warranty if you register it within 30 days of purchase.

This will be my 5th EVGA card in a row. I love them.

Yeah, that's probably the one I would pick. Not sure how good their OCing software is but it may be fine. If not I would recommend MSI Afterburner.

EVGA Precision is great. I have used it for literally years. They were the first company to offer something like that.

Hmm, but the EVGA GTX 460 1GB do not use the reference design on the cooler. Its similar to the one used by Zotac, and such get a little hotter than the reference cards. As jyjjy said the MSI Cyclone offers the best cooler right now.

Reply to Tamz_msc

Which is the reference cooler then?

@anort: Does Precision let you bump up the voltage?

1. Go with MSI....their cooling and lack of noise ROCKS!!
2. Make sure your 460 is 1 gig
3. Make sure its 256-bit

At first, try running it on stock. With Rivatuner/ Afterburner, you can always OC it on your own later. Though, I dunno if you'll need to OC the 460 in the first place. But for that, we'll need to know your system specs and the resolution you plan to game at.

For all the challenged people recommending he gets an MSI card. TIGER DOES NOT HAVE THEM. Read the post people, he gets a 25% discount there.

1. The EVGA card overclocks just as well as any of them.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/for [...] eview.html

2. It is a bit louder than the MSI but it also exhausts heat from the case.

3. EVGA precision does not allow voltage tweaks except for a few cards that support it. The new Overclock Scanner for 4xx series cards does though. You can always use Afterburner with the EVGA cards.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/for [...] ew-19.html

4. EVGA has a lifetime warranty that includes taking the heatsink off and overclocking.

5. EVGA has a 90 day step up program and will credit full retail price to a new card in that time.

why does the memory interface on the super over-clocked ones change from 256 to 192

Reply to cia24

There are two different versions of the GTX 460. One has 768mb of ram and a 192-bit bus for $200. The other is 1gb/256-bit and goes for $230. The general performance difference between the two is 7-8%.

Reply to jyjjy

The super overcloked 1gb Evga and galaxy are 192 -bit bus explane that

Reply to cia24

That is just a typo. Here are the same cards with the same product numbers on newegg listed with their correct bus width;

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814162056
As I've said earlier though it is just a waste of money to pay someone else to OC your video card to levels well below what it can handle.

heres the stats.

Galaxy 60XGH6HS3GMW GeForce GTX 460 Super OC Video Card - 1024MB GDDR5

Memory Type: DDR5

Memory Interface: 192-bit

Stream Processors: 336

Core Clock: 810 MHz

Memory Clock: 4000 MHz

Shader Clock: 1620 MHz

What is the max over-clock on this card with out burning it up? what temps do these cards run at. This will be my first Nvidia card in along time are the 460s good. From the benchmarks that i see this 460 is faster then the 5850's out there is this true or does it depend on how hard you over clock it. please let me know

Reply to cia24

Every attempt (OC) always got different result, even on the same type of card.
It SuperOverClock card, which mean it's already factory OC'ed, i doubt it can get more than it's current speed...
Well, that's just my opinion... :)

------------------------------ Core 2 Duo E6300 1.8 GHz (OC at 3.0 GHz) / Zigmatek HDT S1283 CPU Cooler / Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3 Motherboard / 2x1 GB DDR2 800 RAM / 2x160 GB Seagate HDDs / SilverStone ST50F 500W PSU / HIS IceQ 4 HD 4850 512 MB DDR3 / 17" LG Monitor

Im sure it can go more but why i like this card is because if thats a good speed i dont want to piss with over clocking it also does anyone know wabout galaxys warrenties

Reply to cia24

The GTX 460 get to 850+ MHz core when overclocked. So the galaxy card will only overclock slightly.

Reply to Tamz_msc

if i were you i'd forget about a factory overclocked. i'd go for a stock 1gb version, and just overclock it yourself, since the extra texture units can actually make a difference, and gpus OCing is super easy,

Reply to jonnyboyC

Sadly i can get a new 465 right now for 160$ should i go with that or spend more to get a 460. im sure i can flash 470 bios to the 465

Reply to cia24

gtx 460 is really in demand more than gtx 465......and if waiting can get you a gtx 460 than it is worthy to wait for some time rather than choosing the gtx 465 and then not getting the expected performance...

Reply to notty22

If you can get the 465 for $160, why not? Don't you have a thread with like 10938123 answers for this already?

Reply to skolpo

the answer i have been getting are not very solid it seems like most people that are answering on this section of the fourm dont seem to know to much about the 460 but yet they still post. simple question accroding to benchmarks the 465 is better at stock then the 460. i know that you can overclock the crap out of the 460's but i have been told that if you flash a 465 with 470 bios it will kick the crap out of a OC'd 460 this true or not?

A good OC on these cards once you raise the voltage tends to be around 900mhz. The HD5850 is a better card by any reasonable standard and it is also one of the few cards that can actually OC even better than the GTX 460.
