Hi guys, Ok i got this computer on ebay for about $580 dollars. It hasn't arrived yet but i need to know what kind of upgrades i need done to play Starcraft 2 and possibly Diablo 3 on Ultra settings with decent FPS. Here are the computer specs:

Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 Processor 965 Black Edition Level 2 Cache - 6 x 256KB Level 3 Cache - 6MB Level 3 Cache

Hard Drive - 500 GB 7,200RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive
Multimedia Drive - 22x DVD±RW Drive
Video Card - XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 - 1GB GDDR5

I think the only fan is 1 that is built into the tower itself. But anyways that is all that he had listed. I'm not so sure I even got a good deal... Anyways let me know what would be best to upgrade. I don't really want to spend more than $200 on this computer. Thanks guys!!!

Definitely at up to 1680x1050 resolution. I can play Starcraft 2 on ultra without overclocking with no problem. I have the HD5770 and comparing your processor with my processor running at stock speeds yours has a slight edge in gaming.

You got a good deal. Without looking up each part I would say that that would be at least a $700 build.

Thanks, that's nice to know. Is their anything i could upgrade for even better performance.... Maybe a SSD or get another 5770. Or maybe i need to add another fan or some other cooling device? I would think one fan would make it run kinda hot? Thanks for you help.

That system should already be able to play Starcraft 2 and probably will be able to play Diablo 3 on Ultra settings at lower resolutions (up to 1280x1024). Here are the benchmarks:

The only weak point of your system is the graphics card. You could sell it for ~$100 and buy an HD 5850 for a more capable, balanced gaming system.

Gigabyte HD5850 (w/custom cooling)
$268

An SSD will not help for gaming performance; it will only shorten load times. Your motherboard only has only one PCI-E x16 slot so you can't add a second HD 5770 without a new motherboard.

Ok, i see what your saying. So how much of a difference would i get with the 5850 opposed to the 5770. And Does anyone know if the one fan that is already built into the tower be enough to keep the computer from overheating? Btw i'll be using a 23" 1080p Vizio LEDLCD monitor that has the hdmi input. Thanks.

Ok i see you can get a 5850 w/ custom cooling. That is a very good idea Wielander. Thanks, I also looked at the benchmarks and i guess the 5770 isn't all that bad. Maybe i should just keep it and add a few more fans... Or find a good deal on a 5850 with the custom cooling :)

Thanks ScrewySqrl. I will def. get 2 more...

Say i wanted to run crysis on my comp. Should i get a new motherboard and crossfire 2 5770 or just stay with the motherboard i have and upgrade to a 5850?
