I'm looking into buying one of these two, but is the X2 version all that better? are the reads and writes faster? Please don't tell me it's a waste of money, I'm going all out, i just want a really fast system.

I would say its not worth it. If you are going to go all out then buy the x2 but price difference wise no way.

Its like buying the 3930k over the 3960X. You get most of the performance for like half the price.

I would say neither. I'd wait for the brand new OCZ Vector PCIe ssd that will be released this Summer. Sometime near the end of this year we will be seeing the SATA Express standard showing up in motherboards and PCIe based ssd's. It marks the start of the transisition to consumer oriented PCIe ssd's.

If you are going all out and want a really fast system, then you might want to consider setting up a Ramdisk.
