HI there everyone I am looking for a a new lga 755 board because I think mine is fried. Please post recommendations or if it would be more effective a cpu/mobo combo. Currently I am on an E2160 with a generic asus mobo.

That's really not a good idea. With the weaker CPU it just makes no sense upgrading the board. LGA 775 will be completely gone in a few months, as Intel will no longer sell the CPUs.

Given that you have most likely DDR2 RAM, the best bet would be to switch to AMD.

HOWEVER, you need to understand that your operating system will need to be installed freshly and this may be an issue if it is an OEM version of Windows.

Here is a good board and CPU combo that will be a nice upgrade at the same time:

The socket should have more life in it, meaning you can buy upgrade processors for it for the next year or so, perhaps.
