Just got finished with my latest build. As many know the HD Audio header on the ASRock 870 Extreme3 mobo is in a bad spot and it just so happens I have a bigger video card (HD 2900). The plasic cooler puts significant pressure on the HD Audio Connection.

On to my problem....

When I shut down Windows (7 x64 Ultimate), after I get the blue flowery background that says Shutting Down... the screen goes black before the computer turns all the way off. It is during that 3-5 seconds I get a burst of static for that entire period of time.

Any ideas as to what is causing this and how to prevent it.

I do know that it is linked to the Audio card in some fasion as if I mute the sound before shutting down I hear no static.

No, you are not alone on this issue. I recently built a PC with the same ASRock MB and am having the exact same shutdown issue. It doesn't happen consistently for me though, but it does happen. I tried looking to see if any updates needed to be done on the sound card drivers but couldn't find anything. Did you find a resolution to this issue?
