The two cpus I'm looking at are;

CPU- Intel Core i7 Processor i7-950 3.06GHz 8MB LGA1366 CPU

Intel Core i7-875K Lynnfield 2.93GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Unlocked Desktop Processor

I will be using this computer for my online trading only (Tradestation, no video games) but I will be having 6 monitors hooked up to this pc. Basically I need something that can run a lot of mathematical computations hence the large amount of ram but I just can't decide on these two cpus or if there is another one I should be looking at. Any thoughts are sincerely appreciated.

More about which price range
  1. Thank you. I still want to oc the i7 950 but I imagine it wont be more than 20-25%.
  2. You still can, K-edition CPUs are only for the truly hardcore overclocking.
  3. I agree with the 950. The K series is more expensive at a lower clockspeed and a lesser socket. There is no point, the benefits of an unlocked multiplier do not justify the sacrifice and cost.

    Jack, the Shin Etsu is ***. I have 3 bottles I use for crap jobs. Get Arctic MX-2 or MX-3.

    That cooler looks pretty good.
