my cd ro is not being recognized automatically when I click on it. It asks me to insert a cd even though there is one in it.

The only thing I can suggest from what information you have given is seek out a Firmware update from the manufacturer. If there are scratches on the disk try using cotton cloth tshirt to wiping from the center outward.
