Researched, revised, and newly added monitor. Was gonna stick with old monitor but concluded it would be lame. Rather get a new awesome one and keep the ol' 19'' lcd as a secondary. I just hope the combos don't all break by the time I purchase (about a week)

All of the above comes out to $1,176.45 w/ shipping.

I think it's pretty solid. I would like to whittle off a few bucks but I'm really not sure where lol. If anyone has any comments, suggestions, etc. on the build I would love the input.

thx for the tip, i'm really not tryin to spend any more though. I think my selected monitor should be good though, has very good reviews...

You could get this combo of case and PSU instead: Antec 300 Illusion & Antec Earthwatts EA750 80Plus Modular $140. Unfortunately it's not as efficient and isn't as modular the XFX.

Seeing as you don't really need a 650W PSU for a system with two 460s (unless you do lots of OCing or stressing of both CPU & GPU at the same time; like folding for example) you could get the 650W version of that XFX.

If you want to give yourself more headroom then either of these might be a saving:
Antec Truepower New Blue TP-750 80Plus Bronze Modular $120 ($20 rebate, $2 shipping).
OCZ Fatat1ty 750W 80Plus Bronze Modular $100 ($20 rebate, $6 shipping).

That's awesome. Getting the heatink/fan and hard drive elsewhere saves me 11 bucks. the Monitor is 20 bucks cheaper with quicker response time and yeah has that 2ms time.

And that super overclock gigabyte card certainly is nice (read the TH review) and cheaper than the newegg price... I'm not *exactly* certain it is worth the premium. I want a nice 470 but ugh the money

That GTX 470 will perform similar to the HD 5870 and also pulls less power than the stock 470 and not to forget how silent it will be, so IMO the extra bucks is fine you are willing to spend...

where do you find your deals ? :wahoo:

yeah i just re-read the toms hardware review of the gigabyte super OC 470. sounds like the winner. what's another 30 bucks?

So i think this is the build. it's the build in the OP - with gkay's better deals on the heatsink, hard drive, and monitor.

anyone else see any holes, room for improvement? all flows together well?

Yeah we go way back... That monitors a diff model tho- and a much better deal IMO. I wouldn't even mind going down an inch or so depending on how much I could save
