Civ 5 crucial components

I can only speak with experience to civilization 4 and all its previous versions.

In a nutshell, most any modern pc will do well.
I have run it on a thinkpad T61 which has discrete but undistinguished graphics.
It runs on a i3 duo of any kind, even with the integrated graphics.

If you play on the largest of maps, the cpu can take a couple of seconds between turns for the ai.
I see heavy cpu usage on one core, and half of a second, so a good duo should be fine.

I use a 5870 on a 2560 x 1600 monitor with maximum detail and eye candy. The fps is restricted to 60, and it mostly stays there.
