Hi all

I have a Windows 7 laptop, it's hard drive is partitioned 50/50, C and D drive. My C drive is my windows drive and D drive is my files.

After I uninstalled Partion Magic (I know, I shouldn't have used it!) my D drive disappeared.

I can see it in disk management but I can't assign a letter to it. I get the following error:

"The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer."

I've tried refreshing, restarting program and PC - didn't work

I have tried plugging the HDD into another PC via USB and I get the same error in disk management

Does anyone know what I can do? Is there any program I can use to recover the files? (bearing in mind the drive is hidden)

Thanks in advance

It's OK guys I've managed to solve it. I plugged my HDD into an XP PC and managed to assign a letter in disk manager. Dunno why it didn't work with W7.
Thanks all
