Is 8600 gt 512 ddr2 good for physx?

All i can say is this that you can use 8600gt for physx all you have to do is to get latest drivers that supports your 8600gt and also should have physx support...then through nvidia control panel you can set the physx with 8600gt

You can use it but for a balanced performance with your 5870 and the requirments of the latest games like Mafia II it is recommended to get better card (at least GTX260).

You cannot do PhysX on a Nvidia card when you have an ATi card as your primary card.

Moroever ,for using Physx you need two Nvidia GPUs both of which must be better than an Nvidia 8800GTS 320 MB .

there used to be a time when physX-gpus-addin were reasonable, the 8600gt/9500gt days.

suggesting a 260-216 solely for physx dont make sense.

its not like the physx effects did exponentially became complicated after 2 years.

The recommended PhysX GPU for Mafia II is the GTX285... Go figure...

Those are with older drivers.Nvidia disabled it with the newer drivers(from Forceware 256, I think)

Why do you keep drivers that are years old?  

There is a mod that let you use physX with newer drivers.

According to that forum wh3resmycar is right and physX can be maxed out with a 9800GTX+.

There are very few games that support PhysX and the OP should sell the 8600GT for 20 bucks IMO.

Seriously, its barely worth investing in a dedicated physx card, unless the card in question is old and will be thrown out/sold on for next to nothing otherwise.
