Hello,

My old PC base is due for renewal.

As I also use an iPad and a Apple laptop I thought I would get a motherboard that included a Thunderbolt socket.

Apple seem to have ignored USB3 and fitted Thunderbolt to most new products.

Can some kind soul advise if there is a suitable motherboard that includes USB3 -AND- Thunderbolt to "futureproof" ( I know that is impossible longterm ) my new base unit. Then any new Apple products I buy will connect to my base unit

Thanks for any imput

Marty

AFAIK only apple has access to thunderbolt, so no motherboard manufacturer is going to be able to provide it, unless the mobo is for a mac.

I do not know any any mobo's outside of Apple that have Thunderbolt right now.

Thunderbolt is actually a product of Intel. It is not an Apple thing, but Apple helped develop it and are the first to adopt it. There will be a Thunderbolt/USB3 war for a while before it shows up as being widely adopted, that's my opinion at least.
