Hello all, I have been waiting for Final Fantasy to come out and have been buying components for my computer so it can run it when the time comes. The problem is i'm not sure if the card that i got along with my other pc's specs will be enough I have a HP a6200n.

Processor:
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5000+
• 2.60 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache, 2000 MT/s System Bus

I originally have 2 Gigs of Ram but I bought 4 more so I'm at a total of 6 Gigs.

I bought a ATI Radeon HD 4650 1 Gig but i'm unsure if it's going to be enough since on the Final Fantasy site mentions a ATI Radeon 2900 512 MB, and I'm not sure which is better than the other.

Also knowing that i would need a better PSU i bought a 430W PSU.

I would greatly apreciate any help.

Hey,

The 4650 is definitely better than The Radeon 2900

Actually no.

The raw performance between those 2 cards would be very close, the 4650 performs like a HD3850, which is just a die-shrunk 2900 Pro. So if you have the 2900XT, it would actually be better.

The upside to the HD4650 is it consumes ALOT less power than the 2900 and runs much cooler. You actually could have stuck with the old HP PSU.

Yes Ati Radeon 2900 will be better than an hd 4650...but still it's better to go with the hd 4650 as it is new and will be good for other things too like blue ray movies...etc..

Which 4650 did you get? If you have the DDR2 version, send it back.

2900xt is much better, it is better by 10-20% than 4670 when AA is off, and 4670 is better by 20-30% than 4650 (according to 4650 version ddr2 or ddr3)

my friend have the same hd 4650 and he can play every game like forgotten sand, conviction, hawx, and many other on high settings....at the resolution of 1280*768
...so it won't have any problem with the game you have mentioned..

Or do you have any suggestions for another card that can run on my HP that can do a better job?

You spent $80 on a DDR2 4650? Are you in the USA? You should return it, and buy something from online/newegg.com. A nice 5570 should be more then enough for your system.

hey hd2900xt should be about 30-40% faster than 4650 but consumes twice as much electricity n gives more heat, 4650 ddr2 is 9500 gt equivalent which is SLOW!!

Ok, i checked out some 5570's on newegg and saw one that I liked it's a SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 5570 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16.

Now i'm a bit confused about the PCIE slot. I have a PCIE slot thats x16 the card says it's a PCIE 2.1 x16. I was just wondering if as long as it

says x16 will it fit.

Of course it will fit, the question is will it work. I'm hearing there are issues between 2.1 cards and 1.0 boards. If you have a 1.0 board you might want to grab a 2.0 card.

K, I found a Sapphire 5570 on Amazon that's a PCI-E 2.0x16

Technical Details
PCI-Express 2.0 x16 bus interface
DDR3 memory

Thanks for all your help.
