Cd and dvd drives not recognized by computer

Hello,
I have 2 internal drives - a cd drive and a dvd burner drive. I also have an external dvd burner drive and my comuter does not recognize any of them. My op. sys. is windows xp sp3. I don't think its the drivers. Help !!

Has it ever recognized them or is this a new build??

Try turning off the pc and unplugging everything that isn't needed to boot.

Start the pc up and let it load into Windows.

Shut down again and plug one drive in and start up to see if Windows finds it.
